Weekend at Blackjack

The last weekend in April we made a last minute drive to La Grange to see the Townsends.  They have the greatest piece of land with a cute house that is perfect for a weekend getaway.  Blake was absolutely in heaven when he saw this Jeep!  The only way we could get him off of it was when the battery needed to be recharged!

Haas Family Reunion

At the end of April, the entire Haas family met at the Ranch for a reunion.  It was great seeing everyone and getting all of the little ones together.  The weather couldn't have been better so we spent the whole weekend outside.  Everyone had such a great time, hopefully we can do it more often!

Easter party at the Aston's

Blake and I spent Easter weekend at home since Colton was at the Master's.  We had been traveling quite a bit, so it was very nice to just relax and not have any plans.  On Sunday morning, the Aston's had an Easter brunch/egg hunt.  We spent most of the day there and Blake had a blast!

He found some eggs!

A few attempts at photos...

Girls were painting nails, Blake was painting their legs :)

We're having a GIRL!!

Well, we had the sonogram results for 9 weeks, and finally decided how we wanted to find out the sex of our second (and final) baby! We thought it would be fun to include our parents, so we all went to the Ranch for the weekend. We somehow wanted Blake to open the envelope and reveal if it was a boy or a girl, and while he is a very smart 2 year old ;), we knew he wouldn't be able to read the results. So, the next step was finding someone to open the envelope and put either a B or a G flashcard in there for Blake to see. Colton has a good friend and ex co-worker that he trusted to do this, so they met for lunch and Jeff secretly opened the envelope and put in the letter.
On Friday evening everyone got together to find out the big news!

Blake opening the envelope! (Colton said he wasn't looking...)

"G" for Giraffe, and Girl! (Clearly Colton had looked at this point, but I was still waiting for Blake to tell us what he saw!)

Only a few more months as a family of Three!

High Five for a GIRL!!

We had a great, very relaxing weekend at the Ranch. Blake is in heaven when we're there, riding in the tractor, the Jeep, and just running around outside.

February

We haven't been up to much lately, but since it has been such a warm winter, we've spent a lot of time outdoors. That makes Blake a very happy boy! He is more attached to Colton than ever, and wants to do everything Daddy does. Even though we have a lawn guy, Colton mows and blows the yard almost every afternoon (per Blake's request). You will always find Blake a few feet behind him. It's pretty cute to watch!

Blake loves to water the plants!

All of that yard work makes him hungry!

Growing up

Since I finally started feeling better at around 16 weeks, there were several things we needed to do with Blake before baby #2's arrival. First on the list: get rid of the pacis! We had been talking to Blake about throwing them away, and one night while Colton was reading to him he decided it was time. He said he wanted to cut his pacis, so that's what we did. We thought it was going to be a really rough process, but clearly he was ready to stop using them. He went from having 3 in the bed at night to none and it was so easy for him! He still held them (even though he wouldn't put them in his mouth) for several weeks, but after that he was done.

Cutting the pacis and saying goodbye!

Next on the list: getting a big boy bed. This is a tough one. Blake sleeps really well in his crib, especially at night. He just started climbing out a few weeks ago, which apparently is rare since he's almost 3. Once he climbed out, we headed to Restoration Hardware to get him a new room! His new bed, along with his crib, is now in his room. He is still sleeping in his crib, but at least we bought a bed? We will transition in the next few weeks so we can move his old furniture into the baby's room.

Finally, there is potty training. I read a book and I am following a plan that claims to have your child potty trained in 3 days. Since it is supposed to rain all weekend, we decided to do it. We are currently on day 2 and it has not been easy! The method requires stopping diapers cold turkey, so we have been cleaning up puddles all day long! We have to stay home so there has been a lot of painting, drawing, and playing with trains. We'll see how the next couple of days go!
